Medicare Rebate
To be eligible to receive a rebate for your sessions from Medicare you will need to be referred by your GP under a Mental Health Care Plan, or be referred by your treating Psychiatrist.
You can claim a Medicare rebate for up to ten sessions per calendar year ($136.35 per session). An initial referral from your GP is valid for six appointments. You will then need to be reviewed by your GP to assess eligibility for an additional four sessions. Psychiatry referrals are valid for three months, or six sessions whichever comes first, again you can be reviewed for further sessions once your referral has expired.
Private Health Insurance Rebate
Depending on your policy you might be able to claim a percentage of your fee back from your insurer. You will need to contact your health fund directly for eligibility and claiming.
Cancellation Policy and Fees
When appointments are booked, the psychologist reserves the 50 minute period especially for you. Therefore we require 48 hour’s notice and the following cancellation policy is in place to allow us to offer the allocated time to another person who may be on a waiting list for that appointment.
Cancellation fees:
Less than 48 hours notice: 25% of fee
Less than 24 hours notice: 50% of fee
Less than two hours notice or non-attendance: Full fee
We understand that sometimes you may be unable to keep an appointment because of sudden illness or an unexpected personal emergency. If this happens to you, please contact us as soon as possible to explain the situation.
A late cancelled appointment is a loss to three people:
The client who is delaying their therapy progress
Another client who has been sitting on the waitlist to see a psychologist urgently
The psychologist who spends time preparing for the session
