Deanne is a warm and engaging psychologist who works collaboratively with clients to help them grow, and achieve their therapeutic needs. She uses a range of evidence-based therapies. However her approach is underpinned by psychodynamic psychotherapy and relational theories.
Deanne originally trained in design, and architecture at the University of New South Wales (UNSW). She brings a creative, open-minded and collaborative approach to psychology, adapting therapy to suit her client’s particular needs, personality, and capacity.
She is also passionate about mindfulness and self-compassion and has maintained a mindfulness practice for approximately 25 years. She has taught mindfulness in clinical and community settings. She is trained in the Mindfulness Based-Stress Reduction (MBSR) program, Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), and holds a Mindful and Compassion Teacher Training qualification, as well as an Advanced Diploma of Yoga Teaching. Deanne ran a yoga and mindfulness studio in Paddington, Sydney for six years before turning her attention to psychology full-time. She follows the scientific research closely and is skilled at helping clients bring the fundamentals of mindfulness into their lives in a way that is meaningful and useful for them.
Deanne has worked in both private practice and hospital settings, including the Anxiety Disorder Clinic at St Vincent’s Hospital, Darlinghurst, and St John of God Burwood Hospital.
What To Expect When Working With Deanne
Deanne aims to create a safe environment in which clients can feel respected and heard. She listens deeply and works collaboratively with clients, adapting her therapeutic approach to suit their needs. She also focuses on working with a client’s strengths and developing awareness and insight as key factors that support and empower a client to make the changes they desire.
Deanne holds full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia and is a member of the Australian Psychological Society.
